Since the 2000s, radio's journey has gone from terrestrial to satellite to streaming, and thousands of stations have gone belly up. But somehow, it's signal is still alive and kicking. I even stumbled upon a random stat claiming that 82% of Americans still listen to the radio weekly.
Could that possibly be true? Of course, I found it on the internet.
That being said, if radio is in its death spiral, you didn't hear it from me. I'm not going to be the one shoveling dirt on its grave. Because I love radio. I'm a retrophile at heart. As a kid, I would tune into old-school 40s and 50s radio show reruns on NPR with my dad — like Amos 'n' Andy, Fibber McGee and Molly and The Great Gildersleeve.
And let's be honest, the one area where radio always outpaced television was in pure storytelling. It was where the written word really came to life, and the audience had to use its imagination.
Over the years, I've produced and aired my fair share of radio spots — some of which I'm actually proud of. I've also had more that never made it out of review, but that I still loved. That's why this page of my portfolio is equal parts sound clips and scripts. Oh, and there may be a radio spot where I used text-to-speech VO. Enjoy!
