The three Cs of UX writing are clarity, concision and consistency. But I'd like to recommend a fourth: charm.
UX copy doesn't have to read like the ingredients on a Grape-Nuts box — which, sadly, has neither grapes nor nuts, by the way.
Give users a reason to click, tap, swipe and keep reading. Even microcopy can be memorable. I've included a few examples of UX copy and direct response web pages from DuckDuckGo, Zipcar, Staples and Workbar.
I created a series of Chrome UX notifications for the search engine DuckDuckGo. The goal was to get Google users, who had already downloaded the DuckDuckGo privacy extension, to switch to DDG as their primary search engine. The six alerts were designed to test which message drove the highest conversion rate.
